Mark comes from London but lives in Knighton, on the border between England and Wales. He is the leader of the innovative band 1651, who reworked tunes from Playford's famous 'Dancing Master' collection to mark its 350th anniversary. Mark has also accompanied the respected singer June Tabor for many years. In 1651, Mark uses the viola to improvise on Playford's tunes to wonderful effect, exploring the dark side of the instrument and giving the music a very contemporary twist.
