Lindsay lives in Sheffield. She has played many sorts of music on her viola, from punk to jazz. She fell in love with the sound of klezmer seven years ago, and was a founder member and musical director of the storytelling and klezmer band Tashbain. She now plays with a klezmer trio, and is widening her repertoire of Yugoslavian and Iranian folk music with friends in Sheffield. She was appointed City of Sheffield Ethnomusicologist in November 2004, and runs The Musical Works, an educational agency who provide world and street music workshops for young people of all ages. Lindsay occasionally teaches ethnomusicology at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Sheffield.
Her band is called East Handed and plays Klezmer and original jazzy music. See www.easthanded.co.uk for further details.
